2024… A New (nope).

It’s difficult to portray how much of a rollercoaster that last 8 years have been. Between personal to professional challenges, it’s been a hell of a rollercoaster in some of the worst and best ways.

One huge thing that has fallen by the wayside is the monthly challenges I used to do to keep myself mentally and physically engaged. To some this may not be a massive thing, but for as long as I can recall it’s been an incredible way to exercise my creativity and focus.

I’ve tried to jump back into things over the last few years but there’s always been something that halted my progress (thanks Covid!), so 2023 was a year of focus. I instigated 3 daily rituals: mediation, mental exercise (via language learning) and journalling. I paused journaling in December to think about the year ahead and I’ve got my first challenge of the year ready.

From January 1st, I’m starting off my monthly challenges with a post-a-day AI project (save space here for cooler name in the future). There are two main reasons for this:

Firstly I want to explore AI and how it can be used in art as I learn and get to grips with different elements of prompt engineering. Being something I’ve only dabbled in slightly, I’m intrigued to open up the possibilities.

Secondly, I want to chronicle and educate myself and others on the pitfalls and calling cards of generative AI images and how they develop over the year.

This project will run for the whole year and will be chronicled through my social media pages (mainly Instagram and Tik Tok so I can also experiment with how those posts and algorithms work). I will update this post through the year with links to at least one of the pages below.
